Components of Subluxations
&
Why therapy may benefit you

~ the following item occur as a result of a subluxation

  1. Nerves -
    Become irritated, stretched, and/or "pinched"
  2. Improper Motion
    Decreased mobility
    Abnormal motion
  3. Muscle Involvement
    Spasm
    Trigger Points
    Weakness
  4. Inflamation -
    Tenderness
    Swelling
  5. Arthritis
Resulting from abnormal alignment and reduced or abnormal motion.

What is a SUBLUXATION and why do I need therapy?

A Subluxation is when vertebrae of the spine become even slightly out of alignment and puts pressure and irritation on adjacent nerves causing interference with normal and healthy nerve flow.

Chiropractic uses the recuperative powers of the body and the relationship between the musculoskeletal structures and functions of the body, particularly of the spinal column and the nervous system, in the restoration and maintenance of health.

An adjustment is the method of improving movement in spinal joints and reducing nerve inteferences.  When there is a need to decrease the areas of inflammation near the subluxation and/or reduce the muscle spasms, therapy is recommended by Dr. O'Dea.

Types of Therapy and why it helps you get better quicker and get better adjustments.

  1. Electro-Muscle Stimulation -
Encourages muscles to contract resulting in relaxation.
  2. Ultrasound -
Sound waves pulsing up to a million times per second to disperse inflammation.
  3. Stretching -
Elongates the muscles reeducating them to physically relax and become looser.
  4. Hot Pads -
Increases blood flow to flush area with nutrients and disperse toxins.  Not to be used with inflammation.
  5. Cold Pack -
Decreases inflammation and temporarily reduces blood flow and nerve activity to reduce pain.
  6. Toning/Strengthening -
Allows area to assume/attain proper alignment taking pressure off joints and ligaments.

MUSCLE SPASMS may be aggravated by:

  • Too little water in your system
